About me
Ordinarily I like to be outdoors discovering new places on day trips away from crowds. Whether it be a big view across the countryside or small coves and beaches hidden away, it’s always a bonus to find a new place to eat offering great service before heading home. There’s so much to discover and yet so little time. Ideally though I love the Med climate and all that it enables, from a healthier lifestyle or just time in or on the sea, just the tonic to keeping the work life balance.
DATA SERVICES EXPERIENCE
I have over 20 years experience in creating data solutions. I enjoy working with people and understanding how they generate data so that I can apply context to the initial analysis that I carry out at the beginning of our journey.
I fully expect to be able to improve the quality of your data within a short time frame. From that point on the focus will be on delivering highly integrated, information rich data solutions giving you confidence to carry out your activities based timely and accurate data embedded in your day to day operations.
Whatever the client or the industry the aim is the same, to bring business activity and data together. From delivering solutions many times over I have created a solid framework of delivery which is adapted to suit your business needs.
If you would like to discuss your situation, challenge, opportunity or just to talk about whether you feel your business would benefit from some data architecture then please get in touch.
PAST EXPERIENCE
Mobile Telecommunications
Working with a global brand shortly after launching a mobile telecoms business, over a period of many years I built up a corporate wide data service.
Initially this provided marketing capability and evolved into supporting many other teams with their daily operations including customer insights and customer base behaviour, revenue assurance, several margin models, and supporting finance and trading teams.
Global Skincare Industries
Working with a global skincare company there was a need to improve the controls of the data throughout the company’s sales order pipeline.
Over the course of a year I worked with experienced members of the business at various levels across the business to fully understand and document the flow of data through the business. The solution involved the creation of a data warehouse which integrated the CRM and ERP systems, provided a single source of truth for all sales activity, and significantly improved their month end activities.
Food Services
Working with a food service company there was a need to stabilise a recent reporting solution which was required for weekly board level meetings.
I worked with the client to better understand the requirements and current solution. This enabled me to highlighting the current risks and issues and led to a more robust solution being implemented including the necessary controls to ensure that this solution could be relied upon ongoing. Having remodelled the data and improved it’s quality it became possible to build data models leading to improved customer insight.
Building and Construction
Working with a building and construction company there was a need to better understand the flow of data within it’s data warehouse that had evolved over recent years.
The service that I provided involved analysing the solutions to understand their context and then creating data flow diagrams which could be used for change management purposes.
Global Manufacturing
Working with a global manufacturing and engineering company initially the work was to migrate employee data onto the Dynamics HR platform, providing for the first time a single central view of all employee data.
This enabled a greater capability for employee benefits and significantly improved the employee onboarding process and experience. Following on from the initial work there was a need to migrate legacy solutions into other parts of the D365 platform. This work involved significant collaboration with the business to understand their key objectives, and business processes, documenting existing data solutions and creating project roadmaps to ensure the delivery timescales were met. After implementation numerous controls were put in place which highlighted some new data issues as well as issues with the D365 product which were fed back to Microsoft.
